The earlier tools, like the wheels, were very traditional and intuitive for trained video pros, but not necessarily to the DPReview crowd who are used to photo editor styled controls.
The Lumetri controls are the newest, they are the most easy for a photographer to pick up, they're my favorite way of doing it. In rare occasions, I go into curve and color wheels. Most of the time, I just do the exposure, temperature, saturation, highlight, shadow and vignette. I finally settled in Lumetric Color which seems to have all the adjustments I needed.

Just like Photoshop, PP gives users 15 ways to skin a cat. Initially, I was confused with the many tools to adjust color, brightness and contrast. How do you edit 4K with Magix? Does it have a proxy editing platform (similar to PPCC's ingest)? I use Magix which does what I want (hone/family movies etc) I shoot only 4k so perhaps a no go for me. I second that.very helpful and much appreciated. Does it have color adjustment tool/function? I find it hard to believe that any video editor lacks color grading. But if you don't do 4K, you'd probably can get away with CS6. You would miss a lot without the ingest feature. The 4K (or 8K) ingest editing wasn't even on their first 2015 version. A lot of the stuff, like 4K wasn't even a consideration. Video advancements in the past 4-5 years was very steep. Unlike Photoshop, you got most of what you need to do in an older version. I learned PPCC strictly via YouTube, and occasionally some answers here in this forum.ĬS6 is quite dated. You search any subject like "Color grading Premiere Pro" you will find quite a handful of instructions. I find Premiere Pro's support tutorials on YouTube phenomenally great. But if you do a couple of videos with it, I am sure you will feel a lot better.Īs far as learning, you'd need some guidance. The terminology of the tools and the functions and where they are hidden in the menu or the screen all take time to know.
It takes time to get familiar with what each panel does and if you even need to have it open (real estate is an issue with video editing, particularly if you don't have a big monitor).

In term of "complexity" of the program, I think any software that does a complicated job would seem daunting initially. I think it is a case of sticking with what I have and know. I have seen premiere etc and thought it look complex (for my needs) and it seems rightly assumed the same for CS6. If you have it on your computer then you might Google some instructional videos on it. The primary purpose of Premiere CS6 is editing movies. I learned what I needed to know from my son who is in the entertainment industry and edits videos almost daily. I think that there are editors out there, that have more functionality than Elements for the same sort of price - such as cyberlink powerdirector.Īctually, it's not very user friendly. I currently use Premiere Pro but started briefly with Premiere Elements. Does anyone have experience with Elements? I'm running 16 gigs ram, 500 gig solid state drive and 6 T storage. I'd be open to an earlier version if that is a more stable program. So was thinking of getting Elements Premiere 2018 but I'm seeing lots of negative reviews on Amazon. The price for that program is around $500 and way too steep for me. But now I don't have that situation any longer. I've been using Premiere Pro CS6 on a computer at work.
